![]() ![]() Persona 5’s narrative is relatable for every teenager on Tumblr that blames their shortcomings in life on their parents or closely related adults. This is probably the most contentious verdict of them all, but we should at least all agree that Persona 4 and Persona 5 have better soundtracks than the elevator rap music in Persona 3. ![]() Reach Out To The Truth and Shadow World are catchy tunes that somehow make a game about victims being hanged sound cheery and delightful, while Time To Make History is a classic battle theme that ensures I keep The Phantom Thieves draped in the Yasogami High School uniforms. Although I really want to give Persona 5 the nod for Jaldabaoth/Our Beginning alone, Golden has songs I prefer to listen to on a daily basis. Persona 4: Golden is very much J-Pop, whereas Persona 5 is Jazz but good. They’re also open spaces where players can traverse on the floor or through vents, and they have variety with the grind being broken-up with mini games involving paintings and spaceports.īoth games have incredible soundtracks. While the spaceship and Shido’s cruise are admittedly humdrum thanks to being backtracking marathons in which Atlus clearly ran out of ideas, overall the Palaces are creative and stylish prisons with incredible boss fights to top them off. Still, although the dungeons in Persona 4: Golden are significantly better than the never-ending tower in Persona 3, the Palaces in Persona 5 are a world apart thanks to the differences in software. In fact, Persona 4’s dungeons paved the way for Persona 5’s Palaces as they are colourful and thematic representations of each Investigation Team members’ distorted view of themselves. Yet, although Golden’s dungeons are squared labyrinths with too many stages, they are a massive improvement on Persona 3’s Tartarus. This is undoubtedly a cruel tussle as Persona 4: Golden is a PS Vita expansion of a PlayStation 2 game, whereas Persona 5 is a PS4 exclusive that only recently came out in 2017. So, thanks to a better villain and less annoying crewmates, Persona 4: Golden has the best cast despite having weaker Social Links (Kawakami is the real “best girl”). Meanwhile, in Persona 5, Ryuji is a blabbermouth who constantly needs shutting up, Futaba is a cringey mirror for us gamers, and Morgana is the world’s strictest feline for constantly telling us to go to bed.Īs for the antagonists, Akechi is an insanely hot copy of Death Note’s Light Yagami, but Adachi is a sick serial killer who ingeniously hides his true self behind a weak and pathetic mask. Yosuke admirably fills the best friend role, Chie is an energetic lass who resembles Yukari but with boy hair, and Kanji is a secretly camp doofus who ends up being the game’s most memorable protagonist. Yes, Rise Kujikawa is an annoying and clingy dolt who needs to stop singing, but the rest of the ragtag crew are fine buddies to go on a camping trip with. However, even though Ann is an alluring temptress (despite being a Britney Spears wannabe), and Makoto is the “best girl”, the squad in Persona 4: Golden is stronger than The Phantom Thieves. The members of The Investigation Team and The Phantom Thieves are mostly comprised of enjoyable chumps that succeed in sprouting a ton of exposition with humour and personality. Although a lot of the media have had issues with Atlus’ portrayals of certain characters, the studio is well known for creating likeable misfits who are better mates than pals in reality. ![]()
